It is with great pride and a sense of responsibility that I address you as the Chairman of Lal Teer Seed Limited. Since our inception in 1995, we have remained steadfast in our mission to alleviate the challenges of vegetable shortages and improve the quality of agricultural produce in Bangladesh. Our journey, marked by innovation and resilience, reflects our commitment to addressing critical issues in agriculture and contributing to national food security.
Lal Teer Seed Limited was founded with a vision to develop high-yielding, year-round varieties of vegetables and to improve conventional varieties. Over the years, we have expanded our scope to include the breeding and production of a wide range of crops. Our efforts in research and development have led to the creation of 216 varieties across 35 different crops, including 98 hybrids, which are now being utilized by farmers across the country and beyond.
Our company is deeply committed to enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and empowering rural women engaged in agriculture. By providing quality seeds and essential advisory services, we aim to increase productivity and income, thereby improving the overall standard of living for these communities. We believe that empowering women and supporting family farming are crucial steps towards sustainable agricultural development and rural prosperity.
In the face of global climate change, Lal Teer is dedicated to developing resilient agricultural practices and varieties. Our research centers, including the saline-tolerant variety development and testing center, are at the forefront of this effort. We are proud of our contributions to mitigating the effects of climate change on agriculture and enhancing the resilience of our farming communities.
Our extensive network of 1,800 dealers and 10,000 retailers ensures that quality seeds reach farmers across Bangladesh. We are honored to supply a significant portion of the country's vegetable seed needs, alongside hybrid rice, wheat, mustard, maize, pulses, and grass seeds. Our international presence continues to grow, with exports reaching Europe, North America, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia.
Lal Teer's commitment to excellence is reflected in our ISO (9001:2015) certification and our recognition by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board. Our Seed Testing Laboratory, accredited by the International Seed Testing Association, and our state-of-the-art Biotech Laboratory exemplify our dedication to maintaining the highest standards in seed quality and research.
We are honored to have been ranked 7th in the South and Southeast Asia region in the Access to Seeds Index 2021 by the World Benchmarking Alliance, affiliated with the United Nations. This recognition underscores our ongoing efforts to develop hybrid seeds using local germplasms and meet the demands of our farmers.
Looking ahead, Lal Teer Seed Limited will continue to collaborate with leading international and national research institutions to drive innovation in agriculture. Our partnerships with New Mexico State University, Gothenburg University-Sweden, the University of Illinois, and the University of North Dakota, as well as numerous Agricultural Research Institutes and Universities in Bangladesh, are testaments to our commitment to advancing agricultural research and development.
